Shecky's
Living in this neighborhood is convenient for those who work in Midtown. Partying here isn’t good for anyone. At least it wasn’t until Butterfield 8 came along. Marquee this ain’t, but thanks to lots of flat-screen TVs, a pop DJ who spins on weekends, and a well-designed layout, it works as an all-things-to-all-people joint. Glass costume chandeliers, mahogany bar casings, and padded booths imply a timeless saloon for a crowd that’s of the after-work variety any time of day. (Sorry, modelizers.) The Southern comfort food menu is served late into the night and it isn’t geared toward the Kate Mosses of the world either—particularly the Butterfield Cheese Steak Sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. Not a sports bar, not a dive, and not corporate, this is the near-the-office place you frequent because you actually like it. |
