In a cozy room with 100 years of history (literally), the walnut floors, chandeliers, and mahogany walls evoke an undeniable nostalgia. Even the name is nostalgic: inspired by an old phone list, "Butterfield 8" was the neighborhood's code until the 1960's. Don’t come looking for a night of debauchery; you'll still spot the occasional suit and blackberry clipped to a belt. But with a restaurant menu chock full of comfort food, 9 plasma TVs, and signature Dirty Blue Martinis (topped off with blue cheese stuffed olives), you can't ask for more this close to Grand Central.
