An underserved section of Murray Hill gets a boost with the arrival of this spacious newcomer that sports a long bar, curvy banquettes and plenty of flat-screens; the cinematic name (referencing the Liz Taylor flick based on the John O’Hara novel) is echoed in its back lounge with a city skyline mural cribbed from the Hitchcock thriller, Rope.
Ok, it may be more bar than restaurant, but this new Midtowner does supply standard American favorites served in a space featuring both chandeliers and flat-screen TVs, if no references to the John O’Hara novel/Liz Taylor flick that it’s named after; a rear lounge with a 1940s NYC skyline mural is slightly more intimate than the bustling front room. |
